The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade basketball team traveled to Sully to face the Lynnville-Sully Hawks.
Monte held the lead throughout the first half. The Bravettes led 5-4 at the end of the first quarter and 7-4 at halftime.
But, the Hawks rallied in the second half. Lynnville-Sully took a 12-9 lead at the end of the third quarter and won, 19-13.
Monte shot 6-28 (21%) from the field and 1-7 (14%) from the free throw line. Sully was 9-38 (24%) from the field, 0-1 from behind the arc and 1-6 (17%) from the free throw line. The Hawks outrebounded the Bravettes (31-26). Both teams had a lot of turnovers, Monte had 25 and L-Sully had 21.
Keegan Gunderson led the scoring with 6 points making all three of her shots. Brielle Haughey had 5 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals. Kady Schmidt had 2 points and a block. Brylee Latcham had 3 steals.
The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade moves to 5-2 on the season. They travel to North Mahaska to play the Warhawks on January 8.
