Seventh grade girls lose heart-breaker, 28-27

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade basketball team traveled to Sigourney to play the Savages on Monday, November 21.

It was an exciting game between two evenly-matched teams. Sigourney emerged the winner, 28-27.

The Bravettes jumped out early to an 8-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The 2nd quarter saw more scoring as the Bravettes took an 18-12 lead at the half.

The 3rd quarter was the first quarter that Sigourney outscored the Bravettes and by a 10-7 margin.

The Bravettes struggled in the 4th quarter scoring just two points as Sigourney won a heart-breaker, 28-27.

The Bravettes shot 12-37 from the field (32%) and 3-6 from the line (50%). The Savages shot 13-41 from the field (32%) and 2-8 from the line (25%).

Sigourney won the battle of the boards 33-22. Monte forced 22 turnovers while having 18 of their own.

Alexa Rose led the scoring with 13 points. She also had 5 rebounds, 4 steals and a block.

Lauryn Larmore scored 10 and had 6 steals while playing 3 quarters.

Sophia Semprini had 2 points. Olivia Latcham had 2 points. Ryanne Williams had 6 rebounds and a block.

The 7th grade moves to 0-1 on the season. They host Colfax-Mingo on Monday, November 28 at 515.
