Seventh grade girls roll to win

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade hosted the Sigourney Savages on Monday, November 20. The Bravettes jumped out to 11-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Keegan Gunderson led the way with 6 first quarter points. The second quarter was rugged as the Bravettes took a 15-5 lead to the half. The Bravettes had a big third quarter. They outscored the Savages 10-2 to take a 25-7 lead to the 4th quarter.

The final score was Monte 29, Sigourney 11.

The Bravettes didn’t have a high shooting percentage but they did have a lot of attempts. Monte was 14-61 (23%) from the field and 1-8 (13%) from the FT line. Sigourney was 4-29 (14%) from the field and 3-8 (38%) from the FT line. The Bravettes dominated the boards (48-29).  Montezuma had 15 turnovers while Sigourney had 27. 

Keegan Gunderson led the scoring with 14 points. She also had 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Brielle Haughey dominated the rebounds with 15. She also had 7 points, 3 assists, 3 steals and a block.

Kady Schmidt had 2 points and 10 rebounds. Brylee Latcham scored 2 points, 3 steals and a block. Mallory Warden had 2 points and a block. Baylea Smith had 2 points. Lily Moyer had 5 rebounds and 4 blocks.

The Bravettes are now 1-0 on the season. They travel to Mingo on November 27.
