Clarke University freshman from Montezuma Shanae Wetering was a member of the school’s NAIA national championship basketball team this winter.
The Pride won the championship on March 18 in Sioux City with a 63-52 win over Thomas More University of Crestview Hills., Ky.
Wetering was one of 15 members of the Clarke varsity squad. Clarke University is located in Dubuque.
Shanae averaged 3.2 minutes of playing time in 13 games this season.
That’s not a lot of time on the floor, but consider she was a member of a 33-4 team that won the national title – and she played with and against that competition every night in practice!
