A share of first place in the district standings will be the reward for the winner of the BGM vs. Montezuma rivalry game on Friday night, Sept. 9.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. in Brooklyn.

BGM has a very potent offense and it starts with their quarterback, Jacob Maurer,” said Montezuma Coach John Beck. “He has been a starter for three years and is an all-state caliber player.”

We will need to slow him down just enough to get some stops and turnovers on defense,” Beck said.

BGM utilizes their other skill guys well and we will need to be aware of tight end pops and variations of the wide receiver screen game because they do a good job of mixing in that stuff,” said Montezuma’s coach.

Defensively, they fly around to the ball. They are not as big up front as some of the other teams we have played but they are able to use their speed to make plays,” Beck said.

We will need to be very good with our technique and use our size up front, while mixing in the passing game,” said Montezuma’s coach.

The rivalry is always a fun game to be a part of and I know the boys are going to be excited to get out there and play on Friday,” Beck said.

A win here would go a long ways toward accomplishing our goals and staying toward the top of the district standings.”
