DES MOINES – Trey Shearer of the third-place Montezuma Braves has been named to the Class 1A all state tournament team for the second straight year.
Announcement was made Friday, March 13, after Wapsie Valley, the team that defeated Montezuma, won the championship with a 65-53 win over Algona Bishop Garrigan.
Shearer led the Class 1A field by averaging 22.3 points during the three-game set.

Gunner Meyer, Wapsie Valley
Several Braves fared well in various statistical categories during the tourney.
Eddie Burgess of Montezuma led in free throws attempted per game at 7.7, and made, 18 total. Burgess also was second in blocked shots with five, defensive rebounds, with 31, overall rebounds with 37, and assists, with 13.
Shearer was second in steals with five.
Burgess was fifth in scoring per game at 14.3 and Cole Watts was eighth at 11.3.
The 27 and 26 points scored by Shearer and Watts, respectively, were the top two scoring games by individuals in the Class 1A field.
In team stats, the Braves were the top scoring squad at 65.0 points per game.
