Shooters do well at state meet

POLK CITY – Montezuma Shooting Sports student-athletes fared well on Sunday, June 6, at the SASP state championships for rifles and pistols.

A total of 28 of Montezuma’s 31 shooters took part. They competed against five other teams from across Iowa.

Here are Montezuma results:

Rifle-Iron

First place squad, Rookie Division – Marley Stowell, Lauren Larmore, Sydney Nicholson, Sophia Semprini.

Second place squad, Rookie Division – Teagan Krousie, Olivia Latcham, Jalah Perez, Cade Lowry.

Third place squad, Intermediate Division – Courtney Sanders (North Mahaska), Wyatt Grimm, Lindsey Henry, Rhett Pargeon.

First place squad, Senior Division – Joey Kercheval, Caitlyn Sanders (North Mahaska), Abby Cheney, Laila Kercheval.

Third place – Ladies Overall – Caitlyn Sanders (North Mahaska).

Second Place – Mean overall – Joey Kercheval.

At the SCTP Iowa State Championships, Houston Van Roekel earned fifth place in the intermediate advanced men’s division after a shoot-out.
