The Sigourney Savages 8th grade “A” team came to Montezuma on Monday, November 20, for the Bravettes first game of the season.
The Savages jumped all over the Bravettes early to lead 19-3 at the end of the first quarter. Sigourney continued to play well in the 2nd quarter as they extended to a 29-9 lead at halftime.
The Bravettes battled much better in the second half. The final score was 46-23.
The Savages shot well going 22-53 (42%) from the field including 2-7 from 3-point distance (29%) and 0-4 from the line. The Bravettes went 8-32 (25%) from the field. Monte was 0-6 on three pointers and 7-12 (58%) from the charity stripe. Monte edged the rebound battle 31-29. Turnovers hurt the home team with 21 while Sigourney had only 6.
Lauryn Larmore had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Brylee Latcham had 6 points. Brielle Haughey had 3 points and led the team with 9 rebounds.
Sophia Semprini had 2 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. Ryanne Williams 1 point. Marley Stowell had 2 blocks. Olivia Latcham had 1 block.
The Bravettes start the season 0-1. They travel to Mingo to face Colfax-Mingo on Monday, November 27.
