Sigourney keeps line moving vs. Braves

SIGOURNEY – State-ranked Sigourney took a 7-2 lead after two innings and rolled to a 12-2 win over Montezuma in baseball action on Wednesday, June 5.

The Savages outhit the Braves 14 to 3.

Jack Erselius and Cruz De Jong each had one hit and scored a run. Gavin Wilcox got the other Braves hit.

Montezuma stole 5 bases, one each for Gavin Wilcox, Broox Stockman, Easton Hudnut, Breck Simpson and Jack Erselius.

Garrett Watts pitched 5.1 innings, allowing 14 hits and 12 runs, all of them earned. He walked 2, hit one batter and struck out 5.

Five Sigourney hitters had two or more hits. That included Caden Clarahan, who had three hits, including a home run and four runs batted in.

Sigourney went to 8-2 with the win.

The Braves fell to 1-6.
