Sigourney pitcher fans the Bravettes

Second baseman Izzy Roorda, left, flips to first baseman Abby Pope for an out.

Is Sigourney softball pitcher Carly Goodman as good as advertised?

And then some!

Goodwin, an all-state candidate in Class 1A, allowed just one hit and struck out 19 as the Savages beat Montezuma 7-0 on Wednesday, June 7, in Montezuma.

That strikeout total is astounding when you consider that’s 19 strikeouts in 21 possible outs.

Bravette outfielders laila Kercheval, Madison Van Zee and Chloe Snook lead the rest of the players in observing the national anthem.

Sigourney scored two runs in the first inning, and added three in the third. And that was plenty.

Chloe Snook got the lone Montezuma hit.

Bravettes pitcher Kallie Robison pitched all seven innings for her team. She yielded 13 hits, four walks and she struck out three.

The Bravettes fell to 5-6 with the defeat

Sigourney hiked its record to 9-1.

JV girls win – Montezuma’s junior varsity team scored a 6-4 win over Sigourney.
