5 students, 6 efforts are All State

By Liesl Roorda

Montezuma School has five individual performers and six performances being recognized as achieving All State status after the State Individual Speech Contest.

This year there will not be an All State Festival at The University of Northern Iowa, because of COVID 19 concerns. But students still had the opportunity to earn the coveted nomination.

In order to achieve this, at least two of the three state judges had to nominate a performer.

Contests looked different this year but Montezuma coaches were able to provide a platform for about 50 students to perform and compete when they hosted both a district and state contest in front of live judges.

Students at these contests were from Montezuma and a number of surrounding school districts.

The following students earned  All State recognition:

Marty Knox in Poetry
Lydia Singleton in Solo Musical Theatre.
Haley Roorda in Improvisation.
Haley Roorda in Solo Musical Theatre.
Elaina Singleton in Acting.
Brayden Stockman in Solo Musical Theatre.

Congratulations to these students on this fine achievement!
