It’s a Montezuma tradition and it’s as popular as ever.

Upwards of 350 customers enjoyed the 59th annual Montezuma Lions Club’s hunters and community breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 29, in Memorial Hall.

The event is a major fund raiser for the Lions, who sponsor various community service projects in Montezuma.

Photographer Roger Allen shot these photos of the festivities:

AN INDICATION of the good turnout for the Lions’ breakfast was the longest waiting line in recent years waiting to be served, about 9 a.m.

AMONG THE EARLIEST patrons of pancakes was this group of dressed-alike hunters from Indiana. The front of their sweaters said “Holmes Hunting Service.”
HOW MANY EGGS and how would you like them?” asks egg chef Ron Hensel, to customers Kenneth Schultz, far right, and Marna Kudart. Serving and cooking pancakes in background are Eddie Pierson and Jerome Sheets. About 350 persons were served at the breakfast.
SECOND AND THIRD customers of the day, shortly after 6 a.m., were Mike Gross of Grinnell, at left, and his friend, hidden from view. Ready to serve them are Lions, from left, Kathy Cox, Paul Sneller and Dean Teeselink.
