Montezuma’s individual speech and drama students fared very well at the district individual contests.
“We are so pleased and very proud of all of our performers. The individual contest requires a lot of courage from students to step out of their comfort zones and each one of them did a tremendous job with their pieces and showcasing the importance of art!” – Coach Liz VanGorp.
“Our seniors led the way with Kiara Bru, Haley Roorda and Lexi Ferneau all demonstrating strong character development and quick thinking in improv, along with Brayden Stockman, Bru and Roorda giving wonderful solo musical theatre performances.” – Coach Kelly Kaup).
The coaches said, “each of our students reached deep to push themselves in a new way, have fun, and share their heart and material with a very receptive judge and audience.”
All receiving a 1 rating will continue to compete on Saturday, March 13.
This contest will also be held at Montezuma High School due to COVID restrictions still being in place. Performance times will be out in the next week and Montezuma welcomes spectators to their performances. Masks are mandatory and social distancing recommended.
