Strong serves lead win over EV

BELLE PLAINE – Montezuma used some strong serving to help defeat English Valleys 3-0 in the opening round of the South Iowa Cedar League volleyball tournament on Monday evening, Oct. 14.

The Bravettes won 3-0, on scores of 25-16, 25-10 and 25-11.

The Bravettes had 16 ace serves in this match.

Ashlyn Krousie was 14-for-14 with four aces.

Korinn Kehoe was 12-for-14 with five aces.

Waverly Roorda led in kills with seven and also dished 19 assists.

Maddy McKeag led in digs with three.

Kehoe had a pair of blocks.

The win lifted the Bravettes to 16-15 in all matches. English Valleys fell to 4-19.

UP NEXT – The win sent the Bravettes to play Belle Plaine later that evening in the quarterfinals. Belle Plaine had a first round bye based on its record.
