Montezuma wrestler Taya Sincox’ bid to reach the state meet in Coralville fell short at the Class 1A regional qualifying meet held at Colfax-Mingo.
Sincox, a dominant wrestler at 130 pounds for the BGM girls team for much of the season, entered the post-season at 125 pounds.
She received byes through the first two rounds.
In the quarterfinals, Sincox pinned Jocelyn Freed of Aplington-Parkersburg/Grundy Center in 1:30.
The the semifinals, Camden Erhardt of Vinton-Shellsburg pinned Sincox in 1:46.
That send Taya into the consolation semifinals, where she pinned Kristen Crouse of Woodward-Granger in 2:30.
That put Sincox into the third-place match, still with a chance to earn a state meet berth. But, Evelyn Faubus of Ballard pinned Taya in 3:28.
According to TrackWrestling, Sincox closed her season with a record of 45 wins and 16 losses.
