COLFAX ā The Bravettes rode solid team hitting and the pitching of Leah Urfer to a 10-1 win over Colfax-Mingo in five innings on Thursday, May 29.
The Bravettes erupted for nine runs in the third inning.
Montezuma rapped out 9 hits in all. Meanwhile, Urfer allowed just three hits and one run while walking two and striking out 11 batters.
The victory lifted the Bravettes to 2-0 on the season, while the Tigerhawks fell to 0-2.
Lily Ferry went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs for the Bravettes. Kamryn Schmidt went two-for-2 with a double, single and a run batted in.
Getting singles for the Bravettes were Ellen Cook, Mya Smothers, Syd Burgess, Urfer and Lauryn Larmore.
Urfer and Mya Smothers each drove in two runs.
Larmore and Vivian Cook each stole a base.
