“Our student-athletes are ready to go,” said Montezuma Activities Director Tim Burgess as the softball and baseball teams continued to prepare for their seasons.
“This (play during a pandemic) is a challenging and unique experience for student-athletes,” he said. ‘It’s a work in progress because this situation is very fluid.”
Burgess said fans attending games will notice that bleachers have been pulled back and away from the fields. “Bring your own chairs,” he said. “I hope people will be respectful.”
The district will be running player buses to games, but parents need to sign permission sheets before and after games if they wish to transport their athletes to the contests themselves.
“The buses will have masks on board,” Burgess said. “Student safety is first.”
