Three members of Montezuma’s varsity baseball team have been honored by making one of the all-South Iowa Cedar League teams.
Owen Cook was a first team selection as an infielder. Cook batted .422 for the season, with 19 hits, including a pair of doubles and three runs batted in. He was four-for-six on stolen bases and attempts.
Cook was an .862 fielder. He also was Montezuma’s number one starting pitcher. He pitched in 10 games, all starts. He threw 49.1 innings, giving up 54 hits. He walked 24 and struck out 82. His earned run average was 3.69.
Two Braves, Garrett Watts and Colton Benson, earned honorable mention honors.
Watts was a .220 hitter, with three doubles and four runs batted in. He was an .852 fielder, mostly in center field. Watts also pitched in six games as a reliever.
Benson was the team’s number two starter. He pitched in seven games, five of them starts. He threw 25.1 innings, walked six and struck out 10. His earned run average was 7.46.
Benson batted .140, with one run driven in.
