The Montezuma girls and boys basketball teams are top-seeded in their Class 1A region and sub-state tournaments, respectively and each will host – and perhaps play in – two home games.
Tourney rounds involving Montezuma teams begin Feb. 15 and 16. Both have a bye through the first round.
All games are set for 7 p.m. starts, unless announced different in the later rounds.
BOYS
Monday, Feb. 15 – Montezuma opens against the BGM vs. Tri-County winner. The other games that night will be Lynnville-Sully vs. Sigourney, Keota vs. Twin Cedars. And North Mahaska vs. Melcher-Dallas.
Thursday, Feb. 18 – District 11 semifinals at Montezuma.
Tuesday, Feb. 23 – District 11 finals at Williamsburg
Saturday, Feb. 27 – Sub-state game (District 11 vs. District 12) at location to be determined.
In Section 12, Mt. Ayr is the #2 seed in the substate and will meet the Southeast-Warren vs. Moulton-Udell winner.
Other games in District 12 are Wayne vs. Murray, Moravia vs. Seymour and Mormon Trail vs. Lamoni.
GIRLS
Region 6 upper bracket
Thursday, Feb. 11 – Iowa Valley vs. Keota, North Mahaska vs. Grand View Christian, Lynnville-Sully vs. Tri-County.
Tues, Feb. 16 – Montezuma vs. Iowa Valley vs. Keota winner from Feb. 11.
Friday, Feb. 19 – Regional semifinal at Montezuma.
Lower bracket regional games – Feb. 11 – Baxter vs. BGM, English Valleys vs. HLV, Collins-Maxwell vs. GMG, Belle Plaine vs. Meskwaki.
Wed., Feb. 24 – Regional championship, location to be determined.
