URBANDALE – A possible tornado loomed to the southwest, so Montezuma’s tournament baseball game against Twin Cedars on Saturday, July 10, already under way, was suspended to Monday, July 12, at 5 p.m.
That’s the “bad” news.
The good news: The Braves will be batting with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning, holding a 2-1 lead.
With bad weather anticipated Saturday afternoon, officials moved up the starting time from 5 p.m. to 4 p.m.
A 3 p.m. start might have gotten the game in, but you can never tell about Iowa weather.
The tornado was suggested by radar. The storm system weakened as it closed in on Des Moines, but there was still plenty of rain.
So, they’ll resume on Monday at 5. If you were there, keep your tickets. They’ll still be good.
Twin Cedars has a 13-9 record.
Montezuma is 11-6.
