200m–> Chloe – 26.60- 14th – Lifetime best!
100m–> Chloe – 12.95 – 14th
The first day of the State Meet can be stressful, but the weather was great, and Chloe Snook was returning to the

Blue Oval for the third time in her career.

We were lucky to be in the afternoon session, as it was a little warmer than in the morning. Her first race was the 200, and she had a tough assignment coming out of lane 8.

She knew that she had to attack the corner and get to the straightaway. She was the last qualifier, but she was able to improve on her best time ever and finish in 14th place!

Seeing her go 26.60 out of a hard lane assignment was great.

Next was the 100m, and Chloe had a great lane from a good district tailwind that helped her run her fastest 100m ever. The wind was not as strong, but she ran a solid 12.95 and finished 14th. Which is the fastest 100m Chloe has run without a strong tailwind.

She has worked hard in the off-season, getting stronger and improving her blocks. All of those components have helped her get to this point, and I’m proud that she works to do the hard things correctly. She is a a great kid to coach!

The Bravettes have not run a relay at the State Meet since 2019, when the girls finished 3rd in the team race. This was a young group of girls with only one member of the relay teams ever running at Drake Stadium.

The day started with the 4×200 team running together for the second time all season, and they improved their best time to finish in 1:49.17 and 10th place.

This was an improvement in their time and also the placing they brought into the state meet. This group has had many setbacks throughout the season, with injuries and other challenges. However, they stayed the course and knew they wanted to run at the state meet.

They were not all at 100 percent yet, but it was wonderful watching them leave it all on the track!

Next was the 4×100 relay, and this group also improved their season best time and finished in 13th place! They have challenged each other to get better and do the best that they could to finish hard, which they did!

Even though we left the meet without hardware, the girls were so proud as they should be. Getting to the state meet is hard, and they did that, improved their times, and I know they will use these experiences to help them get better in many different aspects of their lives.

Not all of track’s lessons are on the scoreboard at the end. I love watching kids experience the State meet for the first time and having them see amazing performances from other athletes. They leave with hope, drive, passion, and the dream to get on the Blue Oval.

I wish I could bottle up those feelings and bring them out when kids start to lose their focus. Track is a sport that will let you succeed if you put in the work, but you have to understand that failure is a big part of success.

If you want an easy path, it isn’t the sport for you. You need to be willing to work through pain, setbacks, and you cannot give up. If we have kids who are willing to stay the course and work for some time on the Blue Oval, it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that they will never forget.

We have some fired-up kids, and I hope they keep working, because we have many chances to earn some amazing opportunities next May!
