IOWA CITY – Many Iowa kids dream of playing basketball in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Trey Shearer of Montezuma got to do just that on Monday evening, Oct. 31 – against the Hawkeyes!
Trey is a sophomore at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., and he started at point guard in an exhibition game against Iowa.
Shearer scored seven points, including a three-pointer from the right corner. Truman State stayed close to Iowa for about 13 minutes before the Big Ten school pulled away to a 118-72 win.
Gary Dolphin, who does play-by-play for the Hawkeye Radio Network, said “I like Trey Shearer as a point guard. He takes the ball right at the defense.”
Former Braves Coach Al Rabenold was in attendance, and confirmed that “Trey played well.”
