Two Braves go deep, but BGM prevails

The Braves kept their bats going – 11 hits including home runs by Garrett Watts and Cruz De Jong – but they were not enough as BGM took advantage of 7 Montezuma errors in a 17-6 baseball win on Wednesday, May 29.

BGM scored 7 runs in the final two innings to extend its lead.

Gavin Wilcox went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Braves.

De Jong also went 3-for-4, with his homer, a double, and a run batted in.

Watts had 2 hits, including the home run, and a run batted in.

Getting one hit each for Montezuma were Easton Hudnut, Rett Pargeon and Breck Simpson.

Luke Erselius was the starting pitcher for the Braves. He threw four innings, gave up six hits, walked two, hit one and struck out four.

Hudnut pitched 3 innings, yielding 4 hits, 4 walks, a hit batter and he struck out 2.

Kieran Sacora had two hits, one a homer, and drove in 4 for BGM. Ethan Bridgewater had 3 hits and drove home 4.

Beau Burns, BGM’s starter, worked four innings and picked up the win.

The defeat dropped the Braves to 0-4, while BGM rose to 6-2.
