The Monday, Feb. 10 late afternoon announcement regarding All State Large Group Nominations:

The senior girls’ Readers Theatre titled “Just Like Old Times” with Rachel Teumer, Waverly Roorda, Shelby Conger, Madelyn DeJong, Chloe Latcham, and Maddy McKeag received Special Recognition for their performance.

This was during Saturday’s competition at the state contest in Cedar Rapids.

Only three out of the 39 reader’s theatre groups that performed in three separate performance centers at state contest are able to perform at All State.

The girls were nominated by multiple judges for their performance.

The girls shared the story of five of the young women gathered together six years after high school for one of the young women’s funeral.

We also have a Group Improvisation group who received Special Recognition for their performance.  They were also nominated by multiple judges.

Only 6 of about 90 improvs are able to perform at All State, so it’s a great thing for this group to also receive this honor.

This group includes Haley Roorda, Jacob Facile, Ally Gunderson and Lexi Ferneau.

They drew a situation of “forgetting your lines” and gave a comedic interpretation of that draw.

The Large Group All State Festival will be held on February 15 at Iowa State University.

Montezuma’s two groups will be honored for their nominations during the closing ceremonies and receive All State medals for their accomplishment.
