With all the “objects” the government has been splashing lately, the Montezuma Braves got into the act, downing the BCLUW Comets 60-35 on Monday, Feb. 11, in the first round of Class 1A post-season play in Montezuma.
The Braves led with their defense as they usually do, holding the visitors to single digit scoring in each of the first three quarters.
Montezuma led 16-8 after one quarter, 33-11 at halftime, and 49-18 through three periods.
Masin Shearer scored 17 points for the Braves, splashing down 3-of-6 three-pointers in the process.
Gavin Strong knocked down 16 points for Montezuma.
Garrett Watts scored 8, and Owen Cook had a 7-point, 7-rebound game.
The Braves pulled down 32 rebounds, to 22 by BCLUW, with five Braves getting 4 or more.
Montezuma shot .478 from the field, and limited the Comets to .275.
The win lifted the Braves to 16-6 on the season.
BCLUW passed in the songbooks on a 6-15 campaign.
UP NEXT – The Braves hit the road for Moravia on Thursday night for their next game, against Moravia, 21-1 after scoring an 82-45 win over Wayne of Corydon.
