SPRINGVILLE – It was cold out Monday evening, Dec. 6, but the heat Montezuma junior varsity boys basketball team was generating came from within.
The Braves beat Springville 59-15 – after leading 39-0 at halftime.
“The boys played an all-around great game,” said Montezuma Coach Cal Smith. “They had a lot of energy on defense and got a lot of stops.”
“They took care of the ball on offense and found opportunities to score,” the coach said.
Max Anderson led three in double figures scoring with 16 points. He was six-for-eight from the field, including four-of-six on three-pointers.
The Braves shot .714 from the field on two-pointers (15-for-21), and .429 on threes, at nine-for-21.
Nik Kotar scored 14 points and added six rebounds.
Jack Erselius scored 11 points and David Rose squeezed five rebounds.
“It was also great to see that everyone got to play,” Smith said. “They also played with tremendous effort and did their jobs. I love to see the energy and effort that comes from the boys when they play.”
