Volleyball season was a success!

By Tim Burgess
Head volleyball coach

What an experience!!! There are always waves of emotion and thoughts when a season comes to an end. Some were the competitive feelings of what could have been… Others were on decisions made, but what just kept pushing to the forefront of my mind was the pride I had for these ladies, and the wonderful memories we made.

As the new head coach, I tried to make my expectations clear:

~Asking you to give an effort every day,

persevere when challenged,

and have a growth mindset.

Understand that every role matters.

Embrace your role to the fullest so the program can succeed~

In life, we control the things we can. It’s important to show up every day and go to work. We need to keep things, both the good and the bad, in perspective, and embrace the opportunity to compete! Every experience we have in life is an opportunity to grow, to better oneself. I believe these young women did that.

The girls finished the season with a 13-15 record, but that’s really not what extra-curriculars are about. That isn’t how success is measured.

There is no question we finished the final two weeks playing our best volleyball.

I hope the Bravettes take away from this season a passion for the sport they love. I hope they have the desire to put in the extra time needed for continued improvement as athletes.

I hope they appreciate the time they got to spend together. I enjoyed every second we spent together, watching them play and grow throughout the season.

I hope these athletes enjoy the memories, take the lessons learned to the next activity, continue to embrace the mentality of being the best version of themselves in all they do and remembering that all roles matter within a team.

As we circle back to expectations laid out to start the year… It’s clear the year was a success. They absolutely met each and every one!

Lastly, thank you to all the parents, fans and those who helped throughout this season. Your support and help was greatly appreciated!!!
