The Bravettes varsity volleyball team played 27 matches last season – and won nine of them.
They were a young team, meaning this year’s returnees have quite a bit of varsity experience.
Head Coach Rylie Little and assistant Tiffany Kercheval – a former Bravettes head coach – are hoping that experience, added to some overall athletic talent – will lead to more wins this season.
Montezuma opens its season on Saturday, Aug. 26, in the Albia tourney. That’s a seven-team event against schools Montezuma’s size or larger, which makes it a measuring stick for the Bravettes’ progress.
Appearing with the Bravettes will be Pleasantville, Moravia, North Mahaska, Seymour, Southeast Warren and Albia.
The tourney starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The Bravettes’ seeding, then level of success in the tournament will determine who they will play in the next rounds.
