North Mahaska’s junior varsity boys pounded the offensive boards and scored a 61-41 win over the Braves Thursday evening, Jan. 16, in Montezuma.
North Mahaska started fast, leading 26-14 after one quarter, and didn’t look back. The Warhawks led 37-20 at halftime and 53-26 through three periods.
With most statistical categories close to even, the one that wasn’t was rebounding. North Mahaska had a 30-16 lead in rebounds, including a 21-6 margin on the offensive glass.
North Mahaska was able to put up 12 more shot attempts than the Braves.
Gavin Strong led the Braves with 17 points and six rebounds.
Cameron Johnson scored 12 for Montezuma, including a seven-for-eight performance from the free throw line.
