North Mahaska sophomore Regan Grewe pitched and batted the Warhwks to a 14-2, six-innings win over Montezuma on Monday, May 22, in the Bravettes’ season opener.
Grewe had two home runs among her three hits, three runs batted in, and a stolen base. She pitched all six innings, struck out four and limited Montezuma to five hits.
The Bravettes hurt their own cause with 8 errors. The Warhawks put the ball in play, lining 11 hits.
Jordan Ranfeld had two hits for Montezuma and scored a run.
Laila Kercheval drove in a run with a single. She also stole a base, as did Lily Ferry.
Madison Van Zee got credit for the other RBI, when she reached on an error.
Kallie Robison pitched five and one-third innings for Montezuma and struck out three.
Eighth grader Leah Urfer pitched two-thirds of an inning and recorded one strikeout.
Montezuma’s other hits were singles by Chloe Snook and Izzy Roorda.
UP NEXT – The Bravettes will be home Wednesday against Colfax-Mingo, and on Friday against HLV.
