It was matinee baseball as North Mahaska and Montezuma played a makeup game on Tuesday afternoon, June 13, in Montezuma.
The Warhawks were as good under the sun’s rays as they had been under the lights in New Sharon. North Mahaska rolled to a methodical 12-1 win over the Braves.
Montezuma had its moments, but struggled to move baserunners against the North Mahaska pitching and defense.
The Braves had seven hits.
Meanwhile, North Mahaska led 6-0 after two innings, and played add-on after that.
Broox Stockman went two-for-three for the Braves and drove in one run.
Getting one hit each for Montezuma were Garrett Watts, Luke Erselius, Carsten James, Jack Erselius and Owen Cook.
The Braves were guilty of just two errors.
Colton Benson started for Montezuma and threw five innings, allowing 11 hits. He walked two and struck out three.
Luke Erselius threw two-thirds of an inning, didn’t allow a hit, and struck out two.
Carsten James threw two-thirds of an inning, giving up two hits and a walk.
Montezuma fell back to 4-5 with the defeat, while the Warhawks went to 10-6.
