Warriors strike early in 7-1 win

VICTOR – The HLV/Tri-County baseball team scored four runs in the first inning, added two in the second and made them hold up for a 7-1 win over Montezuma on Tuesday, July 2.

The Braves managed five hits against a pair of Warriors pitchers.

Garrett Watts had two hits and drove in Montezuma’s run.

Luke Erselius, Cruz De Jong and Lars Taylor had one hit each.

On the plus side, the Braves made just one error.

However, Montezuma couldn’t get its speed game going. The Braves were 0-5 on stolen base attempts.

Watts pitched 1.0 innings, allowing 2 hits and 4 runs, just one of them earned. He walked two and didn[t strike out a batter.

Easton Hudnut pitched 2.0 innings, allowing 2 hits and no runs. He walked two.

Isaac Wedgewood pitched 3.0 innings, allowing 3 hits and 3 runs, 2 of them earned. He walked 7, hit one and struck out 4.

Montezuma fell to 4-12 with the defeat.

HLV/Tri-County went to 2-13.
