What was your favorite part of the fall musical at the school?
Was it the singing or the acting?
How about the spectacular costuming, or the set design?
What did you think of the renovated auditorium?
One thing is sure: A school play in Montezuma is a community effort. That helps to make it great.

“A Musical of Royal Proportions” played its first weekend Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 9-10.
The second weekend is coming right up: Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 16-17. No doubt many in the community will see it again, or maybe again and again!
Starting time is 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets cost $8 at the door.
The music is by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. The play is humorous and entertaining for all ages.
This musical is a result of many hours of dedicated work – by students, teachers and community members.
About 40 cast members had to learn the script and songs. Stage settings were constructed. They’ve been working on it since June.
Costuming was a major issue. It’s a colorful production, in period pieces, so the right fabrics had to be found, and assembled.
Businesses and individuals contributed a lot to make this production work.
The auditorium hosted its first production since it was renovated. It has better lighting, a stronger sound system, a larger stage – and more comfortable seating, including 220 padded chairs for the floor, donated by the Montezuma Lions Club.
The production is under the direction of Kaela Schuiteman, Liesl Roorda and Shelly Shoemaker.
Faculty member Brian Nolton is the choreographer and set designer, and got a big assist on the sets from Superintendent Dave Hoeger.
If you missed it the first weekend, well, you’re forgiven.
But don’t miss it this weekend! You’ll be royally rewarded.
