XC runners see a new course

ALLEMAN – Montezuma took its varsity cross country teams to the North Polk Invitational on Monday, Oct. 2.

The varsity girls placed 8th in a 12-school field. Ellen Cook was the first Bravette in, placing 27th in 24:57.

We had some strong running by the middle of our lineup to steal some points at the finish line, which we love to see,” Gartman said.

The boys were 9th of 11 scoring teams, with Carter McKee leading with a time of 20:46, which placed 37th.

Montezuma did not compete in the middle school races at this meet.

Montezuma hosts on Thursday – Montezuma hosts its invitational meet on Thursday, Oct. 5, at Big Springs Shooting Complex near Searsboro. Starting time is 4:30 p.m. Big Springs also will be the site of the SICL meets on Oct. 10.
