MONTEZUMA – One thing is sure, with all the five-set matches they’ve been in, the Bravettes have been competitive in volleyball this season.
The Bravettes were involved in another five-set match, this time against Iowa Valley, at home on Thursday, Oct. 3.
The Tigers won the second set and the third.
The Bravettes won the first and the fourth.
In the tie-breaker, Iowa Valley prevailed, 15-13.
Illnesses forced some lineup changes, so it gave some girls chances to show their versatlility, which is really important this time of year because post-season play is near.
For example, Syd Burgess led the Bravettes in kills and in assists, which isn’t your usual combination. Burgess also led in blocks.
Lauryn Larmore led the Bravettes with 17 digs.
Several girls led in serving. As a team, the Bravettes were successful on 81 of 86 attempts, a strong .947 percentage. They had 6 assists.
Iowa Valley climbed to 10-15 with the win.
The Bravettes stood at 9-12 for the season.
