Bears rumble late in 8-1 win over Braves

Montezuma and BGM were tied 1-1 after four innings of baseball on Monday, June 26.

But after that, the Bears started swinging heavy metal, on their way to an 8-1 win over the Braves on Montezuma’s field.

Montezuma closed its regular season at 7-8, representing quite an improvement from last year’s victory total of one.

BGM put up three runs in the fifth inning, two in the sixth, and two more in the seventh.

Owen Cook is ready to blaze one in there against BGM.

Garrett Watts hit a double and stole a base for Montezuma.

Luke Erselius and Lars Taylor each had one hit.

Owen Cook started on the mount for the Braves and worked six innings. He allowed eight hits. Just one of six runs scored against him were earned. Owen walked two batters, hit two and struck out eight.

Luke Erselius pitched the final inning, allowing one hit and two runs, but neither was earned. The Braves made six errors in this game.

Jacob Maurer worked the seven inning distance for BGM. He allowed three hits and one run, which was unearned. He walked one and struck out six.

At the plate, Maurer had two hits and two runs batted in. Mason Maschmann and Tucker Wright each had two hits, and Kieran Sacora had one hit and two RBIs.

BGM jumped to 8-11 with the win.
