Girls tracksters start with strengths

The 2024 high school girls track season hopes to build on the success from last season.

Sending two hard-working young ladies to the state meet is always motivation to those girls who competed, as well as the rest of the team.

The girls will be led by junior Ellen Cook, a state qualifier, who will be head of the distance squad. She has had an amazing junior year and we hope to continue to build on her past successes.

Ellen is willing to do anything for the team and with a limited distance squad, she will be moved around a lot to fill some different roles.

Chloe Snook was the other state qualifier and she is excited to compete and help lead the squad.

Her success is in the sprints and jumps areas and she will also set the tone for many events.

We are blessed to have 5 seniors who have worked hard for the program for four years and we want them to have a wonderful senior season.

Overall, the team has good numbers, which is great to see.

Areas of strength will include sprint events, with several sprinters available.

The throwers have many girls and hopefully the work they have put in during the off-season will be apparent in the track season.

The hurdle crew is small for now, but we are working to develop a few other girls to help the team be successful.

The distance crew has an amazing leader and competitor with Ellen, but we will be limited in the number of girls available for those events.

Overall, we are thankful and blessed for the girls that we have. Track is a hard sport, but these girls know that to improve in all of their other events and activities throughout the building they need to put in the time, whether it is running, lifting, or competing.

We want to focus on improving every day, working to keep our bodies and minds healthy and strong. If we can finish the season together, good things will be in our grasp.
