Junior high wrestlers learn and grow

A Montezuma wrestler, right, works to keep his opponent on the mat.

Montezuma’s junior high wrestling season is short but important in the development of young wrestlers.

Between Nov. 16 and Dec. 18, wrestlers gathered for meets in nine different locations in the area, each school taking a turn at hosting.

The goal is to get every participant one or more matches per session.

Because wrestlers tend to pack at certain weights, some get more matches than others.

Other objectives are to learn and to enjoy the sport.

These are some photos that parents and family members shot and posted on the Blue & White Boosters website.
