Montezuma’s varsity girls basketball team had one tough assignment on Monday, Nov. 13, when it took on Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in a half of jamboree basketball at Sully.

EBF outscored the Bravettes, 37-22.

This Friday, Nov. 17, the Bravettes host another larger school, Vinton-Shellsburg. And this is a regular season game.

But where EBF returned four starters from a 24-1 team, Vinton-Shellsburg has no returning starters from last year’s 18-8 team.

The Vikings graduated all of their starters. But, they do return one veteran player. Julia Johnson started just twice, but appeared in 25 games. She is a 5-3 senior who averaged 8.2 points per game. She sank 39 three-pointers on the season and was a 74 percent free throw shooter.

Special note: This is a varsity-only game, with a 6 p.m. starting time.
