Wind blew, stuff flew, we all froze, but . . .

It just looks cold . . .and it was at the Bear Trax Relays. (Crystal Ferry photos).

BROOKLYN – The sun was shining, but the wind was blowing! The flag stood straight out for most of the night, a tent flew across the track into the long jump pit, and the temperatures dropped.

It was the Bear Trax Relays, in Brooklyn, on Friday, April 19.

Despite those conditions, the girls were able to run several season bests.

BGM is an option for a district meet site, so it is always good to get a few more reps in on that track.

Vivian Cook takes off after getting the baton from Sydnee Burgess.

Chloe Snook continued to lead the charge, winning two of her events and placing 2nd and 3rd in the other two.

Ellen Cook was finally able to get a 3,000 in and even though it was not ideal, we know that she will grow and improve.

Sydnee Burgess ran her first open 200 and was able to finish in a very strong second.

Sam Bos volunteered to run the 3,000 because only four girls were entered to help score points for the team. That is a huge undertaking and not everyone would be willing to do that. I am proud to be her coach for so many reasons, she has a kind heart and works so hard, and she is a complete team player!

The 4×800 improved their time from earlier in the season and are starting to assemble things.

Overall, it was a good meet; we need to use every opportunity to make the most out of it.

Ellen Cook hopes the meet official has an accurate lap count! It’s cold out here!! (Crystal Ferry photo).
