7th girls hold on to win, 20-19

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade team traveled to North Mahaska to face the Warhawks.

It was a sluggish first quarter as Monte took a 4-2 lead. The Bravettes had their best quarter in the second as they took a 12-4 lead to halftime.

The Warhawks would make runs in the 3rd and 4th quarters but the Bravettes’ defense held up in the end to win, 20-19.

Monte shot 9-46 (20%) from the field and 2-14 from the 3-point arc. North Mahaska shot 8-33 (24%) from the field, 0-5 from the 3-point arc and 3-5 (60%) from the free throw line. The Warhawks outrebounded the Bravettes (34-27). Monte had 17 turnovers while North Mahaska had 24.

Brielle Haughey led the way for the Bravettes. Bri had 8 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks. Brylee Latcham hit two 3-pointers for 6 points. Bry also had 3 assists and a block. Kady Schmidt had 2 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. Mallory Warden had 2 points and a block. Bailea Smith had 2 points. 

The Montezuma Bravettes 7th grade team ends its season with a 7-3 record.
