The guys continue to improve and push for times, heights and distances. I am very happy with the effort of these young men.

Aplington-Parkersburg was another very competitive meet and the guys really took advantage of it for the most part. It is also a meet where I can run two relays which allows for more guys to compete.

In the shot put, Briar Simpson had a personal record throw and Beau Young and Owen DesRochers both were right around theirs as well. In the discus, the guys did well considering the wind they had to handle. I am seeing improvements in technique and the work ethic is there. We should continue to see improvement throughout the season.

In the jumps “G” (Garrett Watts) and Damien Knox both jumped their season best. Evan Haughey continues to improve on his technique in the long jump and Luke Brennan and Easton Hudnut are getting closer to clearing opening height. Both have had some really close attempts.

Our relays were up and down on the night. A couple of handoffs, where we were pushing the pace were missed. Meanwhile, our shuttle team, 4×800 and 4×400 all pushed season-best times.

We will look to get our handoffs back in order and continue to push for times. I was really pleased with our JV relays as I have seen a lot of growth out of those guys and they are competing well. Overall we had some very good split times out of our athletes as they continue grow and compete against good competition.

In the individual running events, we had some very good times on a night that got cold at the end. Our sprints continue to set the tone as we are hitting PRs and good times throughout and our distance guys did a great job battling the wind!

Here are the guys who hit season best or PR times:

David Rose- 100 (PR)

Broox Stockman- 200 (PR)

Damien Knox- 110 Highs (PR)

Garrett Watts – 110 Highs (PR)

Linkyn Bru- 3200

Cael Cheney- 3200

We look forward to competing a couple of times this next week if Mother Nature cooperates!

Of note:

1. There was a mistake in the timing of Rett Pargeon’s 400. I had him at a 1:03.85, not a 56.

2. Kenny Criswell was out on a college visit and will be back this week.
