Girls work in two golf meets

By Liesl Roorda
Co-Head Golf Coach

The girls golf meet at Keota was cancelled on Thursday, April 18, because of rain and wet conditions but we were able to move their meet to Sigourney and still take on North Mahaska and Sigourney.

Although it was wet and a little chilly, the girls worked hard on this new-to-them course.

Each of them continues to make improvements and put things together in different ways in each meet.

At the conclusion of the meet, Isabella Roorda earned meet medalist with a new low for her of 46.

Friday afternoon, April 19, the girls traveled to Marengo for the Iowa Valley Tiger Invite to compete against Iowa Valley, English Valleys, North Mahaska, Lynnville Sully, and HLV/TC.

On another new-to-them course, they experienced some ups and downs with faster greens, sloped fairways and a creek running through the middle of the course which likes to consume balls usually at the point of cross-over to the 1st green.

Despite the challenges, the girls continued to battle and work on improving their game within the challenges.

As a team the girls ended up second and Isabella Roorda placed 3rd as an individual.
