JH A-team shuts down Belle Plaine

The Montezuma Bravettes junior high A-team traveled to Belle Plaine to face the Plainsmen on February 2, 2024.

It was a very defensive game. Montezuma used a press and man-to- man defense. Belle Plaine packed in a 2-3 zone. Ryanne Williams got all the points in the first quarter as Monte led 3-0.

Monte had its strongest quarter in the second. The Bravettes outscored them 9-1 to led 12-1 at halftime. The second half was a bit of a grind as Monte won 25-8.

Monte shot 9-63 (14%) from the field, 6-29 (21%) from the 3-point line and 1-2 (50%) from the free throw line. Belle Plaine shot 3-32 (9%) from the field, 0-5 from the 3-point line and 2-4 (50%) from the free throw line. The Plainsman out-rebounded the Bravettes 49-34. Montezuma had 7 turnovers while BP had 33.

Alexa Rose led the scoring with 9 points. Rosie had three treys, 4 steals and a block.

Ryanne Williams had a nice game with 8 points including a triple. She led the rebounding with 10 and chipped in 5 steals.

Lauryn Larmore had 5 points including a 3-pointer. She also had 7 rebounds, 11 steals and a block. Brylee Latcham hit 3-pointer and had 3 steals. 

The Montezuma Bravettes A-team moves to 4-6 on the season. The travel to North Mahaska on February 5 for their final game.
