JH boys ‘B’ team beats Sigourney

By Coach John Beck

Montezuma’s junior high boys ‘B’ team led from start to finish in a 23-15 win over Sigourney on Monday, Jan. 27.

The Braves led 8-4 after one quarter, 16-4 at the half and 19-6 through three quarters.

We came out with great intensity and got up early. I was really happy with our defense. Giving up just six points through 3 quarters is really good. That will win you a lot of ball games.

Spencer Ross scored 6 points, Davis Rose and Jayden Ross had four each, Carter Michalek and Bryson Stockman each had three and Kohen Holland scored one.

Offensively we did a good job attacking the hoop. Carter Michalek and David Rose both put a lot of pressure on their defense. Spencer Ross did a great job attacking and getting great shots.

Bryson Stockman did a great job driving and continues to be very good defensively.

Peyton Minner and Kohen Holland were big on the defensive boards. Briar Simpson continues to improve defensively and is starting to look for his shot and doing some really good things on offense.

Jayden Ross has taken big steps forward the last two games attacking the rim and looking for great shots.

Jusiah Wetering continues to make big strides especially on the boards defensively.

It was a great effort all around and very good to get back in the win column.

The win improves the B team’s record to 5-5 on the year.

COMING UP – Both teams will be in action on February 4th at Iowa Valley. It will be the last game of the year for both JH teams.
